PROJECT: BEN & JERRY'S 'SAVE OUR WORLD'
DIRECTOR: DAVID HOROWITZ
SCOPE: EDITORIAL, COLOR CORRECTION AND MOTION GRAPHICS
Questions like “how much can one person really do?” remain a significant barrier in the fight against climate change. Ben & Jerry’s recognized this. So, in conjunction with 350.org, the beloved ice cream maker sought to communicate the devastating effects of rising temperatures on a more relatable level. Through this spot, they demonstrated the havoc wrought by a 2-degree increase upon an American favorite: their ice cream.
The spot depicted its serious messaging through rich visuals of melting ice cream, conveying the dangers of climate change in an easily quantifiable manner. The ad called upon viewers to take simple steps in demanding a commitment to limiting global warming to 2 degrees celsius.
Having worked on prosocial videos for organizations such as GLSEN, Big Brother Big Sister, veterans.org, the Kaiser Foundation and the Trevor Project, helping to drive personal action on climate change was a natural fit for Fabler. And it worked. The call to action resulted in over 300,000 Ben & Jerry’s fans signing on to a petition to phase out carbon pollution by 2050, which was delivered to international leaders at the COP 21 climate summit in Paris.
